Kelly Rowland, Rihanna and Paul Pierce for "One for Jasmina" campaign.

Celebrities singers Kelly Rowland and Rihanna and NBA star Paul Pierce are helping get the word out to help a 6-year-old New York City girl Jasmina Anema who has a rare and deadly form of leukemia. The organized help campaign is called One For Jasmina. So have strangers on twitter, retweeting the following message:

“Cute kid needs bone marrow transplant Chris Wilcox holding Bone Marrow Donor Drive 03/07 in Manhattan. Pls RT #NYC #USA”

Jasmina Anema’s best chances for beating the disease is a bone-marrow transplant. Jasmina is adopted so the option of family members as donors is not there. People can help to spread the world with One For Jasmina campaign.

This Saturday a bone marrow drive is being held for Jasmina in hopes of finding a match.

Jasmina’s mother, Theodora Anema, is hoping thousands of people show up.

The One for Jasmina Web site (oneforjasmina.com) has information about the donor drive, as well as how to become a donor by requesting a simple kit.

If you would like to become a bone marrow donor:

* You need to be between the ages of 18 and 60 years.

* You need to meet the health criteria. Persons with conditions such as HIV, insulin-dependent diabetes, hepatitis and autoimmune diseases are generally excluded.

* While there is no minimum weight requirement, there is a maximum. The maximum acceptable weight would be a person's weight associated with a body mass index (BMI) of 40.

* If you are part of a registration drive, then often the sponsor of the drive will cover the costs. If no, then you may be asked to pay for the tissue typing (approx $52).
